Description:

For this round robin I am taking my inspiration from Moriah Elizabeth's "Create This Book" that she published. I have been following her on YouTube and been watching her complete pages in her book and I am so in love with it. Here are some links to give you some background, please check them out:

OK, so now that you get the idea behind her book, it's time to get into how we will create our art journals!

  1. First, you will either make your own art journal (just make sure the pages are thick enough to prevent bleeding, like mixed media paper) or use a store-bought art journal with heavy pages. You can choose any number of pages you'd like as long as it's at least 30-40 pages.

  2. Then, you will create a cover or if you are using a store-bought journal then you will decorate the cover. Be sure to decorate the back too.

  3. Next, you will add your name, Swap-Bot username, e-mail, and mailing address on the inside of the front cover. This will ensure that your journal is easy to be sent home. Also, please include the name of this round robin (Create This Art Journal) somewhere on the front cover or inside front cover. There are lots of collaborative journals going around and we don't want this one to get lost in the mix.

  4. Next, you will create an arty, creative prompt on each page spread (so the other people in the swap will use both left and right side of the spread for each prompt). See Moriah Elizabeth's examples in her videos but try to come up with your own prompts. NOTE: For this round robin, the goal is to have people do as many pages as they'd like, within reason of course, so that everyone can work on several pages each round. So if you have a 60 page journal you should create a prompt for every 2 page spread, making 60 prompts.

  5. When your covers are decorated, your information is added to the inside front cover, and when all of your prompts are written out on the pages, you will put your journal in a secure envelope and mail it to your partner with tracking. Please use the comment section below to add your tracking number and who you sent it to for each round.

  6. When you receive your partner's journal, work on as many prompts as you'd like. Please complete more than one. Be sure to use the entire 2 page spread for your work. You may use any medium unless otherwise specified in your partner's prompt (like if the prompt is: create a collage of food items out of magazines). Then when you are done with your prompts mail it to your assigned partner again. Repeat until you receive your original journal back.

If at any time you feel like you won't be able to continue with this swap, PLEASE send any current journals you have back to the owners. Also, you have approximately 2 weeks to work on each journal so when you get a journal to work on start on it right away and send it off in a timely manner. If there are still blank prompts at the end of this round robin, feel free to trade them with others to get them done or work on them yourself. If anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns, please don't hesitate to use the comment section below or private message me.

There is a long sign-up by date so feel free to get started on your journals right away if you join. I hope to see lots of your creative journals! Have fun with this :) #createarteveryday
