TPP: Kirkland Style Handmade PC

Make one postcard for one partner in the style of artist Vance Kirkland.

• Use heavy paper and opaque paints of any color.

• Paint a background on the paper. The background may be patterned or solid.

• Splatter the background by flicking a loaded watercolor brush above the surface. (Watercolor brushes hold more paint.)

• When the splatters have dried, apply dots to create shapes and lines. The dots must be close together for shapes to form. Use various-sized implements to alter the size of the dots. Bamboo skewers with the points removed, Q-tips with the cotton cut off, and dowels work well for this.

• Adhere the completed painting to a piece of cardboard.

• Write the swap information and your partner's name and address on the back.

• Mail naked, unless prohibited by your post office.
